Snowdon
Perhaps the biggest attraction to Snowdonia is Mount Snowdon. Snowdon or ‘Yr Wyddfa’ in Welsh, is the highest mountain in Wales and England, considered to be one of the most famous landmarks in Britain. The peak of snowdon is over 1000 meters, making it a good challenge and a great keep fit activity. There are six different walking routes you can take when walking up Snowdon, these are:
- Llanberis Path
- PYG Track
- Miners Track
- Watkin Path
- Rhyd-Ddu Path
- Snowdon Ranger Path
The walk up Snowdon can vary in difficulty depending on which route you take up to the summit. Summer time is considered the best period of the year to do the walk, due to the harsh weather conditions experienced the higher you walk up the mountain. These harsh weather conditions are amplified during seasons such as winter, where it is only recommended that you walk up Snowdon if you are experienced and skilled. Walking up Snowdon during winter months can be very dangerous.
