The Halloween themed trail at Caernarfon Castle that you just don’t want to miss!
Caernarfon castle is opening its doors for a very special and ‘spooktacular’ event this Halloween. Follow the instructions made by the ghostly gang at the castle, as they instruct you to brave the castle passages, climb up the creepy castle towers and find the obnoxious knight.
There will be prizes for everyone who takes part in the Halloween trail Caernarfon castle, with face painting, a big bubbling cauldron of soup, apple bobbing, pumpkin carving and a prize bran tub – all close to our hotel Caernarfon!
Saturday 28th October from 11am to 3pm – Normal castle admissions prices apply
Tuesday 31st October from 4pm to 7pm – £5.80 per adult with children under 16 free
For those that have not been to the castle before, get ready for an incredibly exciting experience. The castle is known for its rich history and mighty presence, commanding the Caernarfon coastline. The castle itself would have been a daunting prospect for any age-old invader, as it still remains one of the most impressive and exceptional castles of Wales – undoubtedly worth its status of a World Heritage site!
Most castles will use round towers as a part of their construction. But not Caernarfon. This mighty castle has been built using polygonal towers, with the centrepiece being the Eagle tower’ that towers above all, incredibly constructed and maintained to this day. The colours of stones within the tower are also colour organised, creating a splendid pattern that adds incredible effect to the entire structure.
King Edward I was not one to miss opportunities to tighten his grip on the local population, thus consequently made his first son the first English Prince of Wales in 1284. And tradition has held, as the ceremony for the Prince of Wales, HRH Prince Charles took place here.

Along with Harlech Castle, Conwy Castle and Beaumaris Castle, this monument has been part of the Castles and Town Walls of Edward 1 World Heritage Site since 1986.
